Cheesecake is more than just a band; it’s also a pretty cool band. A Miami-born funk collection, this band offers an eclectic, mind-blowing, gravity defying experience to the local scene and aims to grow bigger and better with each performance. Cheesecake has seven members, all raining from the Frost School of Music, that continue to spread their morally questionable ideas throughout their travels in different pockets of the world. The band takes influence from artists such as James Brown, Lettuce, Snarky Puppy, Louis Cole, and more; these influences have become distorted in their minds, and somehow creations such as Phoughkke and Grydian are born. These so-called “influences” even leave some impressions on external projects, such as the Ben-sperience. Cheesecake exists to excite, entertain, and mainly confuse their audience. They’ve recently made their mark in Miami with their 2025 debut album release, Live at Weeks Recording Studio. They continue to embark on an excruciating journey as they plan their second album recording and other side projects.

Members include Russell Hornung, Nolan Slate, Ben Dunham, Robbie Heyde, Jason Fieler, Ben Mini, and Kodi McKean. The band has also worked alongside Jake Rosen, Tristan Yeager, Grace Lazicky, Elise Ruona, and Aash Durg throughout different iterations of the band.
